Fallow tanks with chloroquine phosphate

Hey FOWLR folks....


Anyone tried to do fallow with CP to see if i shortens the fallow cycle? Seems like it should since it kills the parasite.

But AFAIK it doesnt affect the tomonts (ie cysts) which 'hatch' irregularly for up to 28 days...so you will still need the 6 weeks fallow period.

I had a case of quinine resistant ich.
If it were my tank, I would just bleach it, dry it and restart the tank with seachem stability or another bacteria starter.

Waiting for the tank to recycle should be faster than waiting for ich to die (Read that it can take 8 weeks or so) and its more guaranteed ich won't come back.

The problem is, how would you know. Please read this.

I thought that it did kill tomonts as well. If not then assuming that the toment hatch thoughout the 28 days and that they can't reproduce you would cut it to 4 weeks. Assuming they hatch for 8 weeks that would still hopefully bring the percentage closer to 100.
