Family got me 2 bulb T5 -- For my Biocube. Put in Front or Back?

Wish list item I had on Amazon showed up unexpectedly. It's a 2 bulb AquaticLife T5 fixture. I already have a Blue+ & Coral+ on the way to replace the bulbs that come with it.

I know it's not an ATI or dimmable or any of that -- But it's also going over a 29g Biocube lit by a single Radion.. I figure it'll be more than good enough.

So where do I put the light? Should I put it in the back of the tank pointed directly down (above my SPS directly) -- Or should I put it at the front of the tank and tilt it?

How is my bulb selection? I'm running my Radion pretty blue (18k). So I grabbed the Blue+ and Coral+ -- Coral+ to add a little white to the mix, and because it supposedly stimulates coral growth the most.

I'm pretty happy with my Radion but this was a sweet bday surprise and it'll make for great supplemental lighting -- Again, I know it's not an ATI or Giesemann but for a 20x16x15 DT I'm pretty sure it'll be fine.

Hey ho Tim :)

The bulbs you ordered are spot on for what you're doing. I do the same with actinic plus and lagoon blue's from Geisemann to supplement my 400W radiums - you have a Radion but same thing if you know what i mean.

I would place them at the front angled back about 10-15 degrees, the whole point is to stimulate pigments previously or soon to be shadowed by growth. Your light is fine, you only have to look at Mike's Radion illumated gob stopper SPS display to know that.

If you put them at the back you'll see some nice colors facing the tank back............

Happy birthday mate - nice score that'll make a positive difference you will actually notice

Hey Andrew,

Thanks much for the confirmation and sage advice. You haven't steered me wrong one bit buddy. I'm a tech nerd and I love LED's, and I've seen some jaw dropping tanks lit by LED's alone -- But I think a combo of lighting probably best suits an SPS tank that doesn't have a 2-3x recommended amount of Radions.

The Coral Color and Lugols have also helped with growth and color. Things that stopped growing started encrusting and showing new corallites. Even the flubber like it, hah.

Keep updating us with that porn homie, we can't get enough of your homemade pics! :hmm2:
