Fan control and DALI questions

I'm interested in purchasing a Profilux controller now that DALI is available. :D But first I have a few questions...

- My new 275g tank is going to use 8 12v DC fans with an external 12v Power Supply. Would is be possible to replace this power supply with the Profilux fan controller? If so, what are the current draw limits on the fan controller? I'm planning on using 6" fans and would like to control each one individually if possible. What would it take to do this?

- How many ballasts will the DALI controller operate? I'd like to be able to operate each ballast individually. I have 7 ballasts total. Also, do I need to connect their power source to an outlet on the Profilux power bar or can I turn them on/off via the DALI interface? I'm trying to save a few bucks on digital power bars if possible. ;)

Thanks in advance,
Ed

Hi Ed,

I will get the current draw for you to tomorrow I am not in the office right now so do not have access to the tech spec.

As for Dali, this is all new technology to all of us, if you can follow this link you will find heaps of updated info and can talk to the GHL development team directly with any questions.

One question I can answer now is that you do NOT need to connect the ballasts to a digital power bar as Dali ballasts zero volt switch, this is one of the biggest benefits

I will revert back tomorrow with the answer to the fans, and if any dali question remains unanswered please email me at sales@aqua-digital.com and I can forward your questions on.

Thank you for the quick responses. I did some reading on the DALI and it looks like it will work out perfectly for what I want to do. :D I look forward to your response on the fan stuff.

Hi again :)

The fan controller is 800mA max loading

The Dali Interface will be here around Mid May and should price in at $89 (ish)
