fan controller

Now that summer is here I've been having trouble regulating the temperature in my tank. I don't know why because the only lighting I have is standard cheapy flourescents. I think my mag 7 and sedra must be heating things up or something.

Anyways, I picked up a fan at walmart and ran it over my refugium and it immediately dropped the water temp down to the room temp.

However, now we have a cool night like tonight with the windows open the heater is fighting against the fan, not so efficient. And evaporation is crazy, I can hardly keep up with it.

So, my question is, does anyone here know of a fan controller that I can use so it will automatically kick this fan on when the aquarium temp gets above 78 or so? I know there are temp controllers designed for chillers that I've been seeing for around 100 bucks, but that seems like overkill just to run a simple fan. Any thoughts?

I know your looking for a cheap solution but an ACjr might be a good investment, It can do that and control your heaters which I recommend for a secondary safety since heaters controllers always seem to go out. I believe a package is around $250. Other than than I can't think of anything besides the Ranco type systems that are pretty expensive for what they do.

Another cheap solution is running your fan on a timer. Just set it to come on during your photoperiod.

I use Ice cap fans. They are $40, but each one is variable speed and has a built in sensor. Mine is a 4 incher and it is dead quiet when slow and will really ramp up to cool the tank when needed.
