Fan "Controllers"

I have recently been looking to add fans in my canopy. I'm thinking about clip on fans but then I would have to manually turn them off and on. What I was thinking about was using computer fans like some of you guys have done. My question is, is there some kind of Fan Controller out there that I can use to turn the fans off and on? If so, how do you power it? Is there one that you can just plug into an outlet? Thanks for the help guys

You can use an IceCap fan that has a 12v adaptor included and a timer.

I use a Lasko fan that shares the timer with my lighting.

I'm not responsible if you burn your house down:

I soldered mine to the leads on a variable output transformer, like the kind you get at W-Mart. They sell them in the electronics section as replacement power packs for personal electronics. Cheap. Just slide the selector to 4-6-9-12v. I made sure to include an in-line fuse and shrink wrap the naked bits for safety. But still, this is sooo not UL listed.

The on/off part is that you then plug the transformer into a timer like Ed sez.

KMP has some experience with the fancier rheostat style fan controllers that you can dial in your exact speed.

JeffReef, how do you power these fans though? Is there simply a plug that you just plug into and outlet or is there some wiring involved?

It comes with the power supply and m/f connectors.

KMP, does the speed controller also turn each fan on/off? I just looked on SVC and these are out of stock. How much did you pay for it?
