Alright I need to put fans in the canopy can't afford the chiller. Anyone who has done a diy canopy please chime in. First things first where can I get the fans. Looking for the cheapest and most reliable. Fade I believe I heard you say you just stopped in radio shack which type size did you go with? Any help with info would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

I had the IceCap fans in my 75, they worked awesome. They have variable speed with a heat sensor. The warmer it gets the faster they spin.

I have 1 extra fan, you are more than welcome to have it. What I did was go to EPIC on Cave Springs (It is a computer place that refurbished PC's and they gave me 3 120MM fans. They are not the quietest but work great. Let me know if you want it.

Dennis,

I have two fans that I don't need. When I get back to STL on sunday, I will take a look at them and see if I still have everything that goes w/ them.

you can buy computer fans on ebay for fairly cheap, and pay the couple of extra bucks for teh quiet ones. And all you need is a $10 universal power adapter from walmart and the just direct wire it or wire a couple in parrallel.

I used an $8 computer fan from CompUSA and an $8 variable voltage transformer from wal-mart. I can adjust the speed to control the noise.

thanks kurt I will be in touch,

ya chad I try to keep my tank at 82 swings to 84-85 with the MH on during the day. This past week when it got up in the 90s my tank was beeping before the lights even came on. Bought a fan to cool the sump this has helped a bit but my light cycle has changed to 11 to 8 in the morning after the house is cooled off a bit. Don't want to kick on the AC just yet to early. My tank has done wonderful until these early days of summer hit. :mad2: well learned my lesson and no sps corals upstairs.

My tank never got that warm I had just bought a $10 clip on fan about 6" wide, from K-mart that I clipped to the back and blew accross the tank, it worked great!!
