Hey all,
I've been doing some reading on Fantail Orange Filefish and I wanted to hear people's experiences on keeping these guys in a reef tank? Some people say they are fine and others say otherwise so I'm looking for peoples actual experiences with them. I'm okay with them eating shrimps/crabs/snails but will they bother coral and clams?

Which orange fantail filefish are you asking about? I've got 2 different species in different tanks. They both take a bite of coral every now and then but do no damage to existing corals. I have had difficulty adding new coral every once and a while but even here there is usually no trouble. I have a bird wrasse with my Hawaiian Fantail (P. spilosoma) and the only crustaceans are emerald crabs. Nassarius snails and urchins are attacked. My P. janthinosoma is kept with a full assortment of cuc and shrimps and leaves them alone. Again except when I put them in the tank. Once in they are ok. The Hawaiian fantail is in a mostly SPS tank with a few LPS while my other aquarium is a mixed reef.

No experience keeping them with clams.
