Fasting my Sailfin?

I am going to be gone for three days two nights. Someone is going to take care of him but he is going to get flakes with spirulina (correct spelling?) in them and only once a day. My question is that is starting the one feed a day fast today to early? I normally feed him twice a day. Brine shrimp, Flakes, & Seaweed. He also eats the caulerpa growing in the tank.

I honestly don't think it really matters if they don't get fed at all when you are leaving for only a few days. An auto feeder is good, but I will NEVER allow someone to take care of my fish for me again unless they are an experienced reefer too. Everytime someone fed my fish I came home to algae blooms and sometimes dead fish.

I tried out making little daily portions for them to feed each day. When I came back there was the usual algae bloom and unhealthy fish. I aked them "what happened?" and they said there wasn't enough food in the portions to keep the fish well fed and so they went out and bought goldfish flakes. Never again will I let someone inexperienced take care of my reef. Now to get back on topic.

Most healthy fish can go without food for weeks so a few days is nothing. Getting fed a little is better than nothing and I would keep feeding like normal up until the day you leave.

+1 5 days isn't to long at all.

The tang can find stuff off the rock and what not. I've been feeding my fish twice a week lately since nitrates are up, they all seem fine.

Will be fine.
FWIW. I have one of my female friends come over and feed my tank when I'm on vacation. Never had a problem. I just sort the food out in daily amounts.
I would love to watch her hand feed my porcupine puffer. He splashes and snaps all over as soon as he sees food. :)

If you lay out the daily amounts it works out pretty well, but I have had disasters in the past.
