Fat content in fish foods

Can someone ejucate me a little? Is there a rule-of-thumb "optimum" fat percentage? I'm looking for some new foods to try, and like everything else I have to get all anal about it. Sorry.

What else should I pay close attention to, like fiber and ash (ash? like as in ASH??) and whatever else?

I don't think you can pinpoint an optimal fat level for a fish food any more than you could for a human food. In general, labels aren't especially useful for knowing whether the food is good or not, but the phosphate to protein ratio is one that some brands might provide info for calculating.

I discuss it here:

Thanks Randy, great article! In the back of my mind, the answer you gave is the one I expected.

I was looking at one food in particular which had a fat content of 11% (with no phosphate level mentioned, of course). Then, I read the opinions of several people on the internet, who said 11% fat was too much - and, since it was on the internet, I assumed it must be true. :o
