Faulty Pro heat heaters

I was working in my sump today and got the ---- shocked out of me. Electricity was getting into the water. I finally traced it down to a faulty pro-heat titanium heater (2years old so out of warranty) question is, shouldnt these heaters have a built in safety device to shut them down? I just ordered three more of these ( which have been backordered for over a month ), now Im not so sure I even want them. I use a medussa controller so all I really need are heaters that wont try to float, does MD offer heaters with no temp controls?

Hi,

Thanks for the update. The Hydor heaters do sink and can be used with your controller. They come in wattages up to 400 watts. As for the electric shock, we recommend grounding probes (http://www.marinedepot.com/aquarium_miscellaneous_titanium_grounding_probe.asp?CartId=) to remove stray voltage from the tank. We also recommend the use of GFCI's on the equipment you have running in your tank. If you wish to return the heaters we can still do that for you, just let us know.
