Favia Brain Coral

Score it with a dremel from the underside, then use a flat screwdriver to pry it apart.

Heads that weren't split in half should look fine within hours. Partially damaged heads should recover in a few months.

When the coral is a nice symetrical/dome type shape before fragging , probably will never recover back to original shape .

I did this today to my brain today. First time I have ever cut a coral. If you cut with a dremmel be sure to use a face mask and goggles. BTW it stinks pretty bad. I used the dremmel and cut a line then drilled several holes to make the cut a little deeper, then I hit it with a hammer. Broke off nicely, I hope it does well.

lol no that probably wouldn't come out too good being as though when each polyp retracts it goes into the skeleton. You'd be doing more damage than good to the coral.
