Favia coral over growing plug, what's the next step?

My Favia coral bought like two months as a frag that barely took up half the disc is now over growing the disc.

I have this dead piece of rock that is covered in what I think is skeleton of a Favia colony.

Will it grow better glued to the skeleton or better on just a piece of rock? If just better on rock, do I need to glue it down? Right now I just have the plug pushed in a hole in the rock, it is not real stable and can be moved by crabs and snails, they just can not nock it off the rock.

Thanks in advance on any advise or recommendations!

I would just use some epoxy and mold this all the way around the plug in the first picture. This will allow the coral a smooth transition from the plug to the surrounding rock. It obviously likes where it at now, so moving it might not be the best decision. GL.
