Favia Growth?

So I've had his guy in my tank for a while. After acclimating it I moved it up a little so now it is prolly 12-15 inches from the Prime. You can see the placement in the first picture.

1. Is this to far from the light? I have yet to see any polyps as I have read about. (Left hand side, lower part of the main structure)

2. What are these little things growing off it?

1. If the coral is acclimated, you should be able to slowly move it higher. Without knowing what kind of PAR your light gives there it's difficult to tell if it's too far. LPS prefer lower in the tank generally speaking.
The favia don't have 'polyps' per se, but they do put out feeder tentacles and sweepers.
Personally the only time I ever see my favia tentacles out is at night, or in response to food in the tank.

2. Those are vermetid snails. You can see their mucus nets coming out the end.
Not horrible critters, but can get out of control left unchecked. They can also irritate some corals with their nets.

I wouldn't move it up, looks like it's getting the right amount of light where it is. What are your parameters? Low alkalinity can make LPS stop growing. Another thing is sometimes corals take a while to adjust to the tank before they take off. Some of my fastest growing corals sat there for like 4-6 months doing nothing before blowing up one day.

I have an ongoing thread to fix my parameters over in the nano forum. I just need to measure my water change water. It's slowing getting back to where it needs to be. They were way off before. My softies are starting to improve. I figured the lps would be a slower grower and all my research is confirming that.

How long have u had them/ had the tank set up my tank is only 5 months old and it took almost two months for my corals to start to grow some times it takes awhile for them to want to start to grow

I have never seen my favias tentacles even during feeding. It grows in spurts it seems, last month it didn't do any growth and actually looked a bit sick, this month its growing like a weed (for a favia)

Get rid of those vermetid snails now. That coral is covered in mucus and highly irritated. Make sure to break off the base of each snail or they will survive and come back. Give the coral some time, it will adapt to your light. Make slow adjustments to lighting. Nothing good happens fast in this hobby.
