so i got this guy at the lfs hes rather large and has been acclimating to my lights at the bottom of the tank and was wondering if hes encrusting or if he grows sorta like the open brains, thanks

So they have to be on a rock? I'm just wondering because they told me it wasn't encrusting so I'm running out of places on rocks

no, they don't have to be on rock, but if you do put it on a rock it will fuse to it and grow much faster.

Yes, put it on a low, flattish rock. One Favid that flat might get covered in sand.
BTW, that is a really striking green one. I fact, best green one I've seen in a year or two! Congrats on a nice find.

Oh ok if I don't will it still grow slowly? And thanks a bit pricey but it was the biggest one they had and the best colors
