I'm curious too...I have the standard lense package with my Nikon D80, but can't get the super macro shots that I'm seeing here without spending a lot of $$$.
Canon, Nikon, Sigma and Tamron all have capable macro lenses. For tank work, ~100mm gives a pretty decent working distance. I like the Canon because it's internal focusing.
It makes it much easier to handle, because the lens doesn't grow as you change focus. So, if you're shooting off a tripod right up against the glass, it's a big pain to change lens length.
