Fays Reef Tank

That tank is not impressive at all....

Just kidding! I love a long tank where yellow tangs can school together. I also like how you have kept the corals in separate "islands." I think that it gives the tank a more natural look. Nice job Fay!

Must be they all get on like a house on fire I had to remove the little purple tang that was half the size because he cased the Yellow Tangs but since then no problems.

Been doing a bit of work on the tank and add more lighting

Looking better than ever! Would you describe the changes you've made to the lighting for us?

Thx,

Dave.M

I have put on two of these units Dymax 150cm 3 x 250watt Metal Halide with 2 t5s on each unit that gives the tank a total of 10 x 250watt metal halides 4 x t8s and 4 x t5s. The Dymax units run the length of the tank in the front and the arcadia I moved to the back so the tank is covered with lighting with just enough room in the front to feed the fish.

I added 3 big pieces of rock and moved the sps around now I have better lighting.

Just need to sit back now and wait to see what happens I have noticed improvement in some of the corals already

I took photos now to show what a difference lighting can make and will update again soon

Maintenance
Tank is running on the full Ultra Lith System by Fauna Marin
Natural Sea Water changes 200ltrs once weekly

Fay, your tank looks amazing!!! I have a nano and am seriously considering setting up a larger tank.
I have done a lot of upgrades over the years started with a nano, this tank is my last upgrade so wanted to do it right having learnt by my mistakes along the way.
My current tank is far easier to look after than any past tanks but in saying that I am very strict on my self in regards to water changes, I live by the sea and do a 200ltr water change every week.
I also run the Ultr Lith System and don't have any unwanted algae.

Thanks
I will take a photo of the lighting today
Yesterday I removed the two torch corals on the far left side of the tank and put them in the sump stevep is picking them up tonight. I have been trying to fit them in but with the increase in sps stock something had to go the Maroon Clowns and their Anemone need that end of the tank the Anemone is loving the extra lighting and is now twice the size :2: I used the rock the torch corals were on to try and contain the Anemone from touching the pocci corals.
Will take a photo as soon as I know the Anemone is ok.
