I recently purchased a feathered duster after visiting it at the store for weeks. I took it home aclimated it to my tank and placed it in the sand leaving it stick out how it was at the store it's been almost two days and it has not came out. I have heard it can take up to a week anyone with experience's and how long before they come out would be helpful

I dont know alot about them. However I got one at the Columbus swap.

I acclimated for 1 1/2-2 hours I was told go longer than a fish that I do for an hour.

I see them laying on sand at stores but whenever I see one in a tank it is off the sand and semi upright. It was already attached to a small piece of rubble. If you lay the rubble on the ground the duster is upright like a palm tree. so thats the way I have mine

It is in a lower to medium flow area of my tank. I have not seen other tanks flow so I dont know what is really considered low medium and high, I am kinda guessing.

Mine opened immediatly. It tilted one day and was to close to a rock and it would open touch the rock and go back in. So I moved it slightly farther away.

I hope something of that will help you.

i have a few. some laying on sand and some sticking straight up. i have also seen both in other tanks. give him at least a week before you worry. i know one of mine hides if a shadow comes over it and another is half hidden by a mushroom. once hes out i use invert food for my whole tank. try some if you dont already
