Feather duster wilting

I searched on RC and didn't come up with any helpful information.
I just added some charcoal to the tank and the next day my feather duster looks a little wilted. The "feathers" look smaller in width and appear wrinkly. I rinsed the charcoal with regular tap water and then squirted a dechlorinator on it and let it drip dry a little and then put it in. I didn't think that little bit of tap water would do anything. Whats going on?

What's going on is that your feather dusters are very unhappy due to changing parameters. whether it's the charcoal or the dechlorinator I haven't a clue - some one with reef experience will have to answer that.
