do to the reaction of what i have read it seems to me that you guys will not allow new people into your group that you have already made. I never once said it was our way or the high way.We simply asked the question to see what the response would be. but it already seems that you guys have your ways and are not ready to hear someone elses experience. I never once said i was the king of the kingdom. I was just stating things that were done in the club i was in and how it was handled. i even agreed with you guys saying that we dont have to have money to do things but down the road we need to think about have some sort of structure. I didnt come to this forum to mess up your little circle of love. I'mm sorry if i wasted your time. Hopefuly we meet someday and you can see what kind of person i am and that i'm very open. We were just a couple of guys with an idea and we wanted to see who was interested and you guys are not interested. Please if guys ever need help with anything let me know. I helped run a fish store in south carolina and a great mentor who has 20+ years in the hobby. I'm no expert in the hobby but have a good idea. so if anyone ever needs help let me know. Like i said before i hope i can meet all of you one day so can see what kind of person i am. I was gone from my hometown for six years and when i got home i asked all around and no one knew of a saltwater club around so i wanted to try and start something but i will leave that to you guys sense you have something started. maybe you guys should think about making yourselves know so that people in this region know that they have help instead of just going off the word of the LFS. which by the way i will stand by. I believe in the success of LFS that is where i go so i feel like a person and hobbiest and not a customer or a price tag. So i would like to say thank you to all of the LFS that i have delt with and look forward to dealing with them in the future. Good luck to and everyone on this forum.

I am sad to read this. I had high hopes that everything was going to work out, and the people I had talked to were also interested. If you guys have people already interested in this why cancel now? Just becuase some people have spoken against it it does not mean you have to quit with your vision. So maybe only a few people would show to the first meeting, everything does not have to start off on a grand scale. I was going to be there. Sorry if I started out as a doubter, but I really thought we made progress today, and felt like more progress was yet to come. What can I do to change your mind?

I dont know how to show what someone has said. but in another part of this forum it was said that we are here for us and that it is are way or the highway. that is not what i'm about

I'm intrigued by the possibility of this club...but I have been reading some things that are already turning me off.

I do have a question for the two of you (seaoflife and patboone7). Since you have just joined RC this month, have you met anyone local on this club that could possibly give us some knowledge of the kind of people you are? Most of us have had interactions with at least one other local member that can tell you what the person was like to deal with.

Also, at the first sign of objection or difference of opinion, you guys are quick to cast said person aside. Not very appealing to join a club with founding members that come off as "my way or the highway".

Not trying to be disrespectful in any way. I am one of those people that feel disrespect has to be earned by knowing the person first and letting them prove themselves unworthy of my respect. Just mentioning my interpretations so far. HTH.

Oh, I will not be able to attend meeting, but am trusting others that I have met to fill me in on what is presented.

Have a great day.

this what patterson said. myself and patboon did some research and found that there was no local club. RC is not a local club it is a place for the whole world to talk to which is cool. I just thought that a more local focus is just as important.

Re-read that post...it was mine and I said you are coming off as if you are like that... in the same post I stated that I am interested, that I wasn't trying to be disrespectful, and was hoping to hear what you guys had to say.

I wasn't angry, or defamatory in any way. Stated my opinion. That is all.

okay i understand but if you read other post you will see that we are not that way. I'm sorry that i dont know who you guys are that is why i wanted to meet at the library.

Then meet at the library and get to know some people.

I was trying to bring to light that there might be a possibility of turning some people off and see if we can get everyone together and let everyone be heard.

I want this to be a success, but i want people to speak their minds respectfully and have that be okay. Clubs are going to have differences of opinions and arguments, it is normal.

So let's all meet up and see how things go. I think there's alot of misunderstanding going on. It's easy to take things wrong on the internet. You can't hear emotion in the persons voice or really get a feel for intent.

wow. i think its way too early for anyone to give up, so i hope that anyone who is thinking about not attending should give it another chance. as fas as asking questions goes:

this isn't a closed group of people who are having their own love fest. all that we have in common is that we're from the same geographic area and we all have a similar interest in reefkeeping. although some of the people know one another, most of us haven't met one another, or if we have, we only know a couple of people very casually.

i think that the point that was being made earlier about you being new to RC wasn't an attempt to shun an outsider. more likely, it was a legitimate question about who you are, because most people have never met you, and without first establishing a track record with someone, most people are skeptical of anyone that comes along with a zero postcount and a big idea.

there's nothing wrong with people asking questions. anyone who is trying to organize something should be prepared to answer a few questions. don't feel slighted. i hope that you'll decide give it another shot.

scott, you might get in trouble for sneaking beer into the library. ;) i promise not to tell on you if you bring an extra one for me.

dont take this the wrong way but it concerns me more with someone with 700 post in 3 months

well, i've given you the benefit of the doubt a number of times, i've been very patient, and i've tried to explain why you've run into some resistance from other people. but you just keep saying things that come off as being deliberately offensive. that doesn't encourage people to join your club. divisive comments like that tend to turn people off. that isn't the sign of a good leader. i think that by saying things like that you are hurting your cause.

Everyone that has posted anything, no matter how it sounded, wants this to go forward. Seaoflife I think that this area was primed and ready for this type of thing and you proveded the spark that start a forrest fire. I mean that is a very good way. everyone has their own ideas that they would like to see in a local club and the meetings are the plase to bring them up, respectively.

Pescaderos's posts are very informative. He seems to be a wealth of information. He just doesn't seem to put that info into a post without the possibility of it being taken in the wrong way. That is where meeting people can come into play. I have met him, once, and know that he means all his posts in the best possable way. That isn't something that you can tell by the number of posts or how long a person has meen on RC.

Lets keep this moving forward. I'll be there if I can I work a job that isn't very scheduel frendly.

Shawn
