our February meeting will be at Gary's house (gflat65) on Feb 28th at 2pm. We look forward to seeing everyone!

cmac23-
We get together once a month at either a member's house or at the location of one of our sponsors. We talk about things going on in our tanks, new animals we've acquired, new gear, good sources for items and animals (online and brick-and-mortar). We spend some time asking around to see if anyone is having any issues with their tanks that maybe someone in the group has faced and solved before or is familiar with a solution. People sometimes bring photos of their tanks and setups as well. Also, coral frags (of all kinds) frequently show up for free or very, very good prices.
Oh - I almost forgot - we eat at the meetings, too. Very well.
Come check it out later this month - I think you'll find it worth your time.

sounds great, but i will need a phone number or address. i do not have a tank yet, im being picky right now. not sure if i want rimless or not, glass or acrylic, 10g, 14g, 20L, etc... im thinking the 20L might be it, but still not sure. i was happy with my 75g before, but i want to go small this time

No worries - we'll get directions/address up well before the meeting. It's not far from the Perry Hill Rd and Vaughn Rd intersection - easy to find.
As far as tank size goes, we've got all types spread around the club - I'm sure you can get some advice or suggestions. Look forward to seeing you there.

i know that area. the park is at that intersection. not too far from my work, but my office is closed on sunday, i will coming from mitylene area, but its not too far for me

i've sent you the address via pm cmac.

i also wanted to mention that we will be discussing more about the frag swap, which will be held at the end of april. that is a great way to meet tons of reefers and get great prices on all types of stuff

today i bought the 29g biocube for aquarium fant. i got the k1 pump, and the tank came with the metal hailide. just odered the stand offline, so no water or rock yet. if anyone would like to assist me with water or rock that would be great. i just spent alot of money and would like to save some. im not asking for free stuff, but if you have water, rocks that i could buy at a good price that would be awesome, if not i understand

Interested in Joining a local club.

Interested in Joining a local club.

Hello,

I am new to the reef scene and am interested in learning as much as possible about it. I've had my 75g set up for about a year now and just got the right amount of rock in the tank. I think joing a club will help me learn more about this hobby.

Dan

I'll check around on rock for you. I think I've heard mention of someone selling at a lower price if you pick it up the day he gets it, but will have to confirm. Going into a fresh tank, uncycled rock could be problematic, though.

A friend has a 180 for sale that is fully loaded, if anyone is looking. I got a short list of equipment over the phone, and it is impressive. They are looking for $3000 for it all (running system). I think he said it was more than twice that new (I think a year ago or so?).

I've been working on getting at least one of my displays hooked into the 'tank room' (been talking about it for about 3 years now...). I've got the SPS tank hooked up, but haven't had the nerve to turn on the return pump yet;). I know there are going to be leaks... Hopefully, I'll have it going by Sunday;).

Hope to see you all there.

thanks on the info about the rock. when you say uncycled and the day he gets it, are you saying when it comes in fromt he shipment, ie plane, fed ex, etc... im assuming you are saying it comes directly from the source, and never has been in a tank. that could be a problem, but who knows how long a rock has been in a tank when you buy it. but if you hear anythign let me know that would be great. hopefully your friend sells there tank and equipment.

also i can only stay till 2:45, i have a young man shipping out for boot camp (navy) on monday, have to meet him at embassy suites hotel downtonwn at 3 pm

Just a bump for Sunday at 2PM, gflat65's house. If you need directions, you can PM gflat65, me, scapes, etc. Hope to see you there!

it there anyone in here, that would like to double check my setup on my nano cube. i had a 75 gallon tank before, but canister filter, no overflow, etc. different animal with the cube, and just want to make sure i have everything right. i live on the eastside of montgomery.

I would be happy to, but tomorrow is pretty busy. I could check it out Sunday evening or Monday, though.
You still need the chaeto for your fuge chamber, right?
