So ive been looking for a nice gigas I liked for about 5 months and I finally found one at liveaquaria, and I bought it even with their inflated prices and the fact they ship fedex.....and once again fedex failed to deliver it...that is 8 animals killed in 2 shipments. the 1st shipment was over a year ago I shipped with them they lost about 5 large sps colonies

basically I wont ever ship with them again....and a fair warning to you guys.

They're still better than DHL. I was a shipping manager for 3 yrs, and by Far FEDEX and UPS destroy everyone else. As a recommendation, if your going to order something alive, don't do it on weeks that there are major air traffic delays. This past week there were tons of weather delays :(

Yeah, that definately sucks, probably the one reason I am so cautious about buying livestock online.

DHL is the company to be scared of. The last five shipments are as follows:

1 Lost my package...said they would refund shipping

2 Damaged my package(leaking when I got it

3 Package sent from Tampa overnight...comes to orlando sorting, gets routed to rockledge, not allowed to pick it up, that next night gets sent back to orlando sorting facility, then to the orlando hub, then to my office...Huh?!

4 Damaged another package

5 Lost my package, couldn't find it, supposedly went out on the plane, but never arrived on the other end, then supposedly ends up in Houston, then they tell me it was two-day, then they tell me they made a mistake, it was not supposed to be two-day(DUH!!), then they deliver it by 5pm Saturday(two days after it shipped).

FEDEX is not great, neither is UPS, but a heck of a lot better than DHL in my opinion...to tell you the truth, I've had the best luck with USPS of all the companies so far.

Sorry for your losses...

I used dhl at the request of an ebay buyer......it was GONE in less than 24 hours. They had no idea where it went.

I always had good luck with Fedex and UPS. I've shipped overnight with Fedex and groudn with UPS. I don't know if you are looking for a squamosa that is pretty large, but I might be selling mine. I'll have to talk to the wife and see. I love the clam and I've had it for 18 months and it is getting a bit large for my tank.

I figure if you like Gigas, you'd like this one.

do you have a pic of your clam:) id have to see what happens with this one, apparently it is being routed here tommorow alive or not, hopefully it comes in ok

If a company won't ship USPS, i won't bother ordering live goods online. I have shipped corals several times with USPS overnight, and never lost anything yet. They are cheaper too.

i would agree and i think they handle thier packages better. i have only recieved one bent package out of probably 100. almost everyone looks like it did when the shipper sent it...

i think they must have a soccer game going on at ups and fedex. and the handball rule appllies

only kicking please.... all the way to the doorstep... :)

I agree, ive always gotten my packages from ups in pristine condition and on time....

the clam got in about 730 this morning, picked it up at 11, it still has its color, but its mouth is gaping pretty bad....gaping is usualy from stress isnt it?

USPS....my god you have to be kidding. Stuff from them gets destroyed, lost, and I have only had ONCE that they actually covered my insurance claim. I once got a box that was dripping wet...as in I mean put it in a bucket of water overnight and smelled like a wet dog. They delieved it folded in half and in a trash bag. And pretty much if something says do not bend or fold, it gets folded and put in my mailbox.

Yeah, USPS pretty much sucks. I don't like shipping anything with them.

I have used Fedex overnight and ground for live items a total of three times and each time they were delivered on time and in awesome shape.

I think the problem here is Liveaquaria not shipping when they said they would and the fact that the weather has been anything less than ideal for air shipping.

Can't blame Fedex if the FAA won't let the planes fly

I agree schnell, they should have never shipped in the weather, unfortunatly I wasnt aware of the weather since I dont watch TV really.....

anyone know if he will recover from the gaping, is this usually sterss induced? or maybe lack of light?

clam came in alive still a little stressed as you can see
