fedex question

i just ordered about $500.00 in supplies from drsfostersmith on friday...they say it shipped...i just checked on the fedex website and it says they delivered it yesterday at 3:54 pm...i wasnt home but the website says tit was left at the front door...when i got home yesterday around 5 or so, there wasnt anything there...

so my question is, what are the chances that it actually wasnt delivered? maybe today?? or do you think maybe someone stole it? the problem i have with someone stealing it, is first the boxes were like over 100 pounds...and second why would the average hoodlum want black sand??

any one have any experience with this?

Think they may have left it with a neighbor who just has not called you yet?

Why would a normal person steal a reeferjunkie's stuff? Aint much street value to sponges, additives and topoff valves!!

well...one neighbor probably wouldnt have even accepted it...she doesnt like me very much...i think its cuz of my big dog (who acts like an angel and never barks)...she had security cameras put in the week i moved into my house...i think i scare her...i cant even tell you how many times shes called the cops on me...the cops come, and they kind of laugh at her but i guess they have to come if someone calls....oh well...my other neighbor i saw yesterdya so they would have told me...

thats what i say...there wasnt anything fun in there...well i think its fun stuff, but for the average person, they wouldnt even bother with it...at least one would have to think not

Looks like you will have to make a trip to local Fedex office and explain not getting pkg. They will then contact person that make deliveries on your route and try to see where he left it. Looks like he delivered to wrong address. Hope you can get it straightened out.

WELL, i just got off the phone with drsfostersmith cust care and that was just splendid (NO sarcasm)...it was the best service ive ever received...they told me that i will have my stuff by monday at the very latest...if they cant find out what happened to it, then they will ship again, free of charge, but with ups instead...

hahha...while i am writing this, my GF calls me up...apparently she called fedex and they DID deliver it to the wrong address...which i dont really believe...they said they delivered it to 836 instead of 736...so apparently it should be at my house by the end of the day...

moral of the story, fedex sux, go through UPS...also , drsfostersmith is wonderful...anytime someone says they will replace the order, no questions asked and as prompt as they said they would, i gotta give them my business...

UPS did that to me. They delivered my TWO packages (sent by separate companies and they unfortunately came on the same day) to the wrong address, and they were missing for about 2 weeks and then mysteriously showed up on my porch, no explanation. In the meantime I had received replacement shipments from the two senders.

Since that, I have preferred FedEx. ;)

Moral of the story: They all suck; all you can do is hope for the best.

Oh, one more thing: After that, UPS wouldn't deliver to my house without a signature. I get 1-2 UPS deliveries a month and am never home during the day... so this was a major problem. They said maybe the packages were stolen.

Even though it was ALL THEIR FAULT, I had to call and complain several times before I was finally taken off their "black list." It was a real PITA.

Good for you :)

Foster and Smith have always been above and beyond on my own experience with their customer service.

I disagree with you fedex vs ups opinion though :D
UPS won't give me my package untill I can receive it in person. SO to people with a job that means that often shipping time is increased by 3 days while their delivery attempts are exhausted and I can then finaly pick it up at the UPS warehouse......

Fedex will try to deliver and if I am not home they will leave it at the post office for me to pick up the same day.

You can call UPS after the first attempt (the number is on the slip they leave) and pick it up that same evening. I have been to my local UPS facility more times than I care to recall...

Glad you found out where it went. Delivery to the wrong place happens a lot, no biggie. I've had good luck with both, so I can't really complain.

I've personally always liked FedEx better. Sometimes it's inconvenient to have to be around to sign for a package, (instead of just leaving it) but there are ways around that too.

I just ordered an H&S skimmer, (a little over $1k) and although it was packaged very well, it showed up cracked. Well, worse than cracked really. The box had a hole in it, and looked like it had been part of a rugby game. So, new skimmer on the way, claim being filed by the shipper, and this time, coming via FedEx.

I have found that if you leave a note on the front door saying "Please leave any deliveries at the door" they will release the package for you and just leave it. Of course you should consider the risk of it being stolen if you do this.

Same thiing happened to me when I ordered frags from one of the sponsors here. Fedex had it posted on their site that the package arrived at the nearby location ready for delivery. When I called them for the approximate time, I was told that the package was stuck somewhere in Indiana. The package arrived the following day, most corals were dead.

I have had two packages go missing from Fedex, both scanned delivered to my house. Never found them, which is weird because one was a 50 pound salt bucket and the other was ferret food. There's no one else in my town that does saltwater tanks so I figured it'd show up but I had to have both reshipped. Worst part is the nearest Fedex facility is 1.5 hours away so no help there. I love UPS, I see them everyday and they ask to make sure I got my packages.

I have been told by the local UPS that the package is left in the truck overnight resulting in me not being able to pick it up untill after the third attempt.
My wife called a second time on a different occation and received the same response.

yeah i guess pretty much your damned if you do and your damned if you don't...they all screw up eventually...im not home very often as i work downtown chicago and live in the burbs about 35 miles away...the commute is killer...and im not about to take off work just to receive a package...i think the best way is to just have it shipped to the ups center and pick it up on the way home...its only like 10 mins from my house...

i had a buddy that used to work for one of the big shipping companies...i wont say the name but this is what he used to do...if he couldnt find a house or if he felt it was to far away, and if it was a "no signature required", he would just ditch the package somewhere and ket someone else deal with it...well to make a long story short, after countless "driver investagations", they just fired him...they didnt know what was going on, but they knew it was his fault...i think he kept a lot of stuff too...

what a jackass!!

I can pick mine up after 5. Generally they put it in my garage if it doesn't need a sig.

Wow, that is absurd... Sounds like your local facility is NOT run very well (even worse than mine)! There is no reason for it to remain on a truck if it cannot be delivered to you. If you just tell them you will not be home to get it because you work during the day, they must realize they are just wasting their time by making two more delivery attempts.

I just have to wait until the truck gets back to their facility that evening - typically they give me a window of 7:00pm - 9:00pm where I can come get it. If I can't make it that night they will just keep it there until I can.

I've never had a problem with fosters and smith. I wish every company had customer service like them. I personally hate ordering anything that ships UPS. I've never had any problems with Fed Ex. However I've noticed whenever I ship something for work from my California wharehouse to NY it always get screwed up.(we use Fed Ex)
