Fedex

Why can't fedex make a single delivery without screwing something up?

I was supposed to be receiving a package of live coral and inverts from Clearwater, Fl to my apt. in Leesburg, Fl. It's about 2 hours away. The box left Tampa fedex at 10:30pm last night and arrives at Ocala fedex sometime early in the AM. It was put in a truck at 7:28am and should have arrived by noon the latest. At noon I was still waiting and actually sitting on the front steps to my apartment building. At 12:15 I see a fedex truck drive right by the building. I figure at first he's going to turn around, then after 5 mins decide it was a different truck on a seperate route. At 12:30 im still on the stairs and receive an email from fedex stating the delivery was attempted at 12:07 and no one was available to accept the package.

Now how exactly can they say there was no one available when a driver would have had to walk right past me, walk up the stairs, then knock on my door inorder to realize no one was available. They didn't even stop.

I called fedex twice now and they have sent a request both times to the driver to attempt a redelivery and inform the driver to call my cell if he cannot redeliver so I can meet him somewhere. It's been over four hours with no word from the driver. So what should I do?

There are probably official channels through which to a file a complaint. Be sure to let the shipper know - they could also file a claim. I prefer to have my livestock shipped to the fedex center where it's held for pickup. It's there by 8:30 am and it's nearly impossible for them to lose the package that way. And, they can't make false delivery claims - you're in total control of when you get the package.

they screw up by me all the time. a trick you may want to use is to address the package to a business (doesnt matter the name) they deliver it earlier as per their internal protocol. It keeps them from "skipping" residences.

I had the day off so I figured I could get away with having them deliver it so I didn't have to drive 40 mins to pick it up at the local facility. It actually passed right by me going to the holding center to be load on the delivery truck because it was coming from the south and the holding center is to the north of me. Next time I'll drive the 2 hours to their warehouse and hand pick what I want vs. Taking advantage of their free shipping over $50 to state residents.

Ups > fedex

+1 UPS > Fedex

I own my business and run it from my apartment, I'm constantly getting personal and business deliveries (from the same drivers) and my live deliveries are ALWAYS late.

It's so pathetic that the boxes say live animals in most cases yet the drivers who are making between $50-80 thousand a year couldnt care less if it arrives early or the next day. Because of all this I lost my arrive alive guarantee and if anything was doa I can't claim it, that is unless I can get ahold of the company I ordered from, which from what I've heard is worse than shooting yourself in the foot.

Sorry to hear about this. I think it depends on who's the driver sometimes. I usually have had success with Fedex, although I had a skimmer delivered a few weeks ago & my wife didn't even hear a knock! The funny part is, they deliver it and put the sticker on the door saying item is on the front door. Really???

UPS in our area can be a different story. I swear they throw packages from the truck - doing drive by's.

What vendor did you shop from in Clearwater?

I bought from reefs2go. I know alot of people have had trouble with their customer service in the past, buy I haven't experienced this. This time my problem is fedex, but hopefully if need be reefs2go can right the situation

I could understand if fedex left the little sticker thing saying they tried to deliver, but there was no sticker thing. Ups in our area tries twice in one day and if they have your number they will meet with you in the middle of their route if they have to in order for you to get your stuff.

pugcrush i thank the ups person here must be kin to ur driver there
i thank thay have bounced things off my dore befor from the look of the box's

I guess it may be different on the east coast becuase its the total opposite over here. Fedex is always on time and ups tends to give me rounded boxes that are a week late.

They might not die if they're hardy corals. I've ordered rics and zoandthids from sealifeinc and they routinely ship two-three day usps with no problems.

One time UPS lost my Saturday delivery of liverock. After I contacted them Saturday evening, one of their warehouse managers showed up at my door Sunday morning with the box, profusely apologizing. Now that's customer service.

my fed-ex guy has always one me right. i always get my LA shipment at noon and last time i got a shipment from NY by 9:30am.

FedEx and USPS do this to me all the time. I will not even order from a place unless they ship UPS. I called FedEx and they called the driver and he immediatly delievered the package. I was sitting inside by the front door and watched him drive by. Now on that note they use 2 different trucks 1 for regular delivers and 1 for overnight there overnight delivery actuallty can be delievered till like 4 i think it is, not 11am like they say

Things haven't turned around. I contacted reefs2go via email informing them of the shipping issue yesterday after the first delivery attempt was supposedly made. Still no response on their end. I'm giving it another day.

As for fedex they made a second attempt today and failed miserably. My neighbor and I who are sharing the order both missed time off work to share the babysitting duty and I get an email at 1pm saying they made an attempt at 12:48. My friend was home and my girlfriend was home. There was no knock on wither door, I didn't receive a call like I was supposed to and there was still no sticker invoice saying they made the attempt.

I think they may have the wrong address an are trying to deliver it somewhere else, but by this point the animals have been in bags for going 60 hours and in the hands of fedex for about 56~ of that. The box has been driven all over the place in the Florida heat in the back of a truck for anywhere up to 12 hours a day for 2 days now. I doubt I'll ever see this package let alone if I do that anything will survive.

I am awaiting a reply from reefs2go until I get off work tomorrow. If by that point I still have no answer Im filing a complaint with fedex for their incompetence and lack of comunication, then I'm seeking reimbursement plus compensation for losing time off work from reefs2go either by way of credit or transfer into my bank account. They choose the shipper and if the shipper makes a mistake they are responsible in my book to do what it takes to rectify the situation. If they offer to send me the order again I am going to request ups at the least and should receive some form of credit. I have ordered from them before with no issues and hope they do what's right.

When I ever have live animals shipped I always have them hole it at the facility for me to pick up there. Fedex is notorious for messing up. I have found picking it up myself is much better.. Good luck. I would raise hell.

i have 2 bad fedex stories

the first is several years ago i ordered something online and it said it was going to be delivered on a certain day. i took the day off of work because i really wanted it. I waited and waited and around 7pm i checked the trackign to see if there was a delay. it said it was delivered several hours earlier. I thought this was weired, i didnt see fedex drive by, but i opened the door and nothing (i lived in an apartment where they had a 2 foot by 2 foot area to leave stuff)

so i called fedex and they said the driver was done for the day but they would speak to them the next day. I wasnt going to take another day off, so i went to work and when i got home the package was sitting in front of my door. i guess it was either mis-delivered and they corrected it or it was never attempted and the guy delivered it the next day.

the other was a package i ordered and it was shipped 2 day delivery, but the person who shipped it lived an hour away. typically that distance would be delivered next day even ground shipped. So the next day (after it was shipped), pulled up in front of my place and sat in the truck for five minutes, then drove away. i checked the tracking and it said something about it being a 2 day shipment so it wont be delivered until the next day.

after those 2 i try to use UPS or USPS if possible
