Fedex

Someone is getting an earful that's for sure. And if they don't resolve it I'm only 2 hours from reefs2go. If I need to drive down there for a face to face meeting I'm all for it.

I did consider having it left at the local hub, but the closest fedex hub is an hour away so it would have been a 2 hour roundtrip to get my free shipping. The closest ups hub is about 20 mins away but they have a local office 5 mins from me that will hold packages. The local fedex store won't hold packages because "we don't have the facility for that"

Whisperer: I think your right about them shipping to other states before returning your packages to your home state and delivering them whenever.

Fedex continually misses early morning "by 10:30am" deliveries by hours, often well after 12 into the afternoon. It happened yesterday. I called and registered a complaint. We pay a premium for that service. Next complaint is to the BBB.

Well my package eventually showed up yesterday. I blasted the driver and he said he swears he came and knocked on the door. I asked him where the little sticky note invoice things were then and he said they must have blown off. I had left multiple sticky notes on the door for the guy with my number and they were there all 3 days. There's no way they blew off the door.

As for the order, a good portion of the things were dead or on their way. I acclimated everything just to do my part and follow procedure. A few things like the mushrooms started to perk up so I put them in the tank. The rest was pretty much gone. I did receive an email back from reefs2go about not getting the package and they said I have 14 days to claim the doa items so I'm going to wait it out and see what actually makes it and what doesn't. So far I'm pleased with their customer service.

I will be filing a complaint against the fedex driver and the 2 customer service reps I spoke with on the phone who said they would contact the driver and have him call my cell. Thy never happened. Im also never having fedex deliver to my home. Ups for the win and in a pinch fedex can deliver to my girlfriends job and I can go pick it up there. It's alot closer than the fedex hub.

gald that maybe some servived. I feel your pain on FedEx. I have actually canceled some orders with companies on the phone because they were gonna use FedEx. As far as filing the complaint I did it and don't think anything ever came of it. I never heard anything back from the case number they gave me.

I've had good experiences using both fedex and UPS. That said, for a 2 hour drive, I would rather just go pick the corals up myself.

Shipping live animals is always a huge risk. My latest fedex shipment was some snakes that friends in Cali were taking care of for me that they couldn't take with them on their move. Luckily, everything turned out great.

I usually like to contact my local shipping facility and agree to be there to get the package first thing in the morning (generally 8am) to get things unboxed that much sooner.

would fed-ex let you pick up at the site? it would shave off 4-5hrs for me. i know my LFS picks up at the fed-ex site.

All you have to do is have it marked Hold at desk. When you place your order instead of your shipping address have it marked Hold at desk. You do need to know the address of your local FedX. You can watch on the tracking site and when it's at your local it will show. I do it every time it's only a 5 minute drive for me and it saves my order from being on a truck all day. I call my orders in and they know just how to do this.

I know at my local distributor they need to have everything by 7am. They open to the public at 8. It's as simple as doing what retired reefer said. If whoever is shipping doesn't do that, just call their 800 number with your tracking info and tell them you want to be there first thing in the morning to pick things up. I have done that 2-3 times now.

I don't buy live stock if fedex is shipping it to me anymore iv'e called the company a bunch letting them know about their drivers. Problems never got fixed probably didn't even get talked about. Might have to try what you guys are suggesting never thought about that.

1. Driver never knocks.
2. Seems like they try to avoid me and sneak onto are porch to drop stuff off.
3. If they do knock by the time I get to the door which is a few seconds their back into their car driving off. So I never get to sign for anything.
4. Don't know if it happens to you guys but the delivery time is always off by 2-3hrs somtimes they don't get to my house till 10pm. Didn't order livestock that time but I am asleep during the week by 10pm most days so its left outside overnight.

Actually I have had good luck with Fedex so far they have always delivered right on time.

current tank: Cadlights 70 gallon rimless with two LED pendants.

Update!!

Just about everything died in my order, but I finally got a reply to my email from reefs2go. The woman I was speaking with said she can put in to reship my entire order on Monday 6/6/2011 no charge and to let her know if that was ok. I quickly replied that it was, however this time I told them to ship to my girlfriends job which is 10 min from our house and I'll be off that day but it will be delivered by fedex express not standard fedex ground. It should be there by 9am so that's at least 4 hours less time on a truck and in a bag.

Reefs2go has stepped up their customer service 10 fold. I've never had an issue before, but did have issues getting in touch with them or unanswered emails. Now I hear back and they take care of the problem. They are still ok in my book

FedEx is the worst company. Drivers, especially in apartment complexes love to go straight to the main office and drop everything off and leave (lazy people) and then claim they attempted a delivery when they didn't and everyone knows it. I choose UPS whenever I can yet it seems everyone now ships FedEx. If you used a credit card let them know and when they credit you back and place the penalty on the LFS and insurance maybe FedEx will start waking up.

I am still waiting for my Saturday delivery today. Hope I do not fall into the same issue as I watch the delivery status updates xD.

I received a fedex shipment from DD, a chocolate tang. I heard two thuds at the front door like they threw it, it hit the door and then the ground.

Of course the package has live fish printed all over it.

They just don't care...:debi:

I had a few bad experiences when i used to live in the states several years ago.

-they never knock (will leave your livestock in the heat/or cold) even if you have your door wide open, with a big sign indicating for them to ring the door bell/or knock and come in because you have expensive products. Most of the time, they run up toss the box down and flee away. I have watched from my window before where they did this. (of course i had my digital camera) and a complaint was made to their supervisor.

-deliveries that were supposed to made at a certain time, was late/or delayed. When you pay for a service, you should be able to get it.. if they claim to be here by 1030hours and show up at 2pm, i should never be charged for the price.

-sometimes they were spot on, other times they fell off the deep end.

I did find out there is a lawsuit between fedex express and fedex ground. The basis of the suit is that the contracted drivers for fedex ground are not holding up to their end of the contract. Fedex express is the business half of the company.
