Feed RO/DI

Hey guys, tired of going to get water from LFS every now and then for changes and evap..

I have an RO/DI unit but can't seem to find a way to feed this thing in my rented apartment. Prior condo, I had a valve that I was able to place in between my flex tubing and water supple for my faucet. In my current apartment, everything is outdated so I can't find a way to feed my RO DI.

I was thinking about using a Saddle-piercing clamp. I know it will leave a hole but I can just keep the clamp on the pipe when I leave.

Are there any other options??

Anyone know where I can find a Saddle-piercing clamp locally? Im fairly close to the bird road stores. Thanks!

Contact the filter folks like air water ice and tell them what you have. They'll sell you the parts and make it ez.

You can get a part from online that connects to a 3/8" water line and has a john guest connection with valve. No piercing no cutting. Very simple.

I can't cut or replace since I am renting...

I actually got this piece, but since the line is stiff copper, there is no way I can move it apart from the water supply enough to fit the john valve in between... if that makes sense.

Yeah, I wouldn't do anything that would permanently affect anything if you are renting. BRS has all sorts of adapters. Some you can connect directly to the faucet, some you can hook up in line with a water outlet.

Yes that makes sense. Is it possible just to replace the copper line with braded line? Remove connection from cold on the faucet and replace with new line. I know it is possible for line to be permanent yo faucet. In that case you can buy a cheap o faucet and put new faucet in that uses braided lines.

Could you use a hose adapter from your faucet to your RO filter?

Tried this.. My faucet is not threaded, but my roommates was. Used a hose adapter on his faucet and the pressure backed up and started a leak somewhere underneath.... even though the faucet was barely open.

As for the washer.. I can't get behind the washer with the way it is set up.

Thanks for all the input/ideas guys... I think I am just going to saddle pierce it and leave it pierced when I move out. Maybe put it up towards the top where it's not noticeable lol.

I've tried pretty much everything.. The way its going, I am going to have all the RO fittings soon enough.

Dont you have a garden hose spout? That is what I use.

Yea, dont tamper the homes plumbing, your asking for trouble.

Makes no sense. Something is off. When the faucet is closed, you are not going to get more pressure than that. Water lines are always open, the faucet is the valve that keeps it closed ;)

Yeah rovster, that's what was going through my head as well... I turned it on a little bit and it would still leak from where under neath, so I had to scratch that idea.

I went and bought a piercing valve because I couldn't think of anything else. I figured once I leave this place I will just close the valve on the saddle and cut off my RO line and should be good to go... I doubt the owner will look up under the sink. At least I hope not. lol

Thanks for all your input though, maybe this thread will give others ideas who have options for their unit.

If anybody needs a hose adapter or the john guest valves.. I will trade it for a frag of your choice! :D
