I've seen them called spiral wires, spiral wire corals, and even spiral gorgonians although they are not gorgonians. They're a bit uncommon, so they're not easy to find but I have a store near me that gets some in from their wholesaler pretty frequently.
Thanks! I think all the spiral wire corals make it pretty trippyIt's looking better and better! It's soooo trippy too!
I love the new lights! I liked the PC light fixture just fine, but this new LED fixture is so much better. It runs very cool, so I was able to remove the two cooling fans I had running all the time when I had the PC fixture. I also love the built in 6 time point programming ability. Even though I don't have a controller, I can no set the two channels separately at different intensities throughout the day. The seahorses are much less bothered by a gradual sunrise and sunset than the lights just suddenly flicking on. The coloration from the new fixture is also really good and you can tune the white and blue channels to get whatever color balance you want. Also its small and sleek looking. So far all the corals seem very happy under it.Beautiful as always and nice growth!
Happy with the new lights? How would you rate them vs previous PCs for your setup?
Its Aquatic Collection in Hayward. They get them in every so often, so you can always call them an request some or see when they will get more if you're planning to be up that way.Could you tell me the name and location of the store, please? Those spirals are so unique. I visit the Bay Area often (former Half Moon Bay resident) and would love to visit your lfs.
Your tank is gorgeous and bright. I have two black seahorses in a 37 tank that are experts in hiding in their macroalgae.
Thanks! It came from Aqua Exotic in Belmont, CA.Amazing Christmas tree rock! Lfs?
You're too kind! Thank you! Most beautiful tank I ever saw. Your success with sponges and gorgonians....all I can say is wow.
Thank you! I am not positive which coral you are referring to. Do you mean the egg shaped one? That's a rock covered in porites coral with a colony of multi-colored Christmas Tree worms living in it.Hi,
I must agree you have a lovely tank, could you tell me the name of the big white coral in picture 5 after the jawfish.
We have a few corals but none as good as yours.
Thank you! And nope, they were supposed to all be females. I seem to actually now have two males and two females. They're reaching the age where they should start breeding soon, so that will be interesting to watch.Beautiful tank!! Were those seahorses males from the beginning? I see a few pouches forming![]()
