Feedback on Sump/Fuge

Building a sump/fuge out of my old 75 gal. Will be a sump for my 45 low and a future 150g. Skimmer is a Vertex Alpha 250. Return pump is a Quiet One 3000.

Skimmer is said to work best at 10" water.

Any and all feedback appreciated!



The Skimmer section is going to be 10" high, not 12 like picture shows.

What thickness baffles will be ok? 3/8 inch? Also - tank is 17 3/8 inches wide where baffles will go. Will cutting them to 17" leave enough room for silicon?

Your sand in the fuge is going to block the flow of water in that design. You need another "over" baffle before the fuge. Actually, I would ditch the baffles ther all together, along with the filter, and let the fuge and algae (chaeto, of course!) be the filter. Then after the fuge there's your bubble trap/baffle chain (over-under-over).
