Feeding a bubble tip anenome

I have a beautiful bubble tip that has been in my tank for about 6 weeks now, doing great. I was in my LFS store yesterday and the owner said I could feed it with a turkey baster. How often should I feed it, and what foods would be good ?

You don't have to feed it but if you want you can feed it 2 or 3 times a week max , feeding mysis shrimp, or brine. But don't feed it silversides, many people do but there are a ton of people who have killed theirs this way

I feed mine whole shrimp, fish, and scallops. Twice a week when I can catch squid I will feed it squid instead because ive noticed he acts better after eating squid than the other foods
I have never fed the small stuff like mysis even when he was the size of a quarter I was feeding him minnows and shrimp around the same size as him. occasionally he will spit a mostly digested chunk of meat out which my clean up crew is always ready to tear it apart

Is flake food ok to feed ? I also have a frozen food that is a mix of clams, shrimp and plankton.

no dont feed flake food.. im sure it doesnt hurt them as ive seen my clowns bringing flakes and pellets into the anemone and dropping them for the nem to eat but as a nutrition thing i would never feed the anemone flakes on purpose. go to the local fish market buy some shrimp and fresh fish and freeze them. a few dollars can last you months and you will have a happier anemone

I started feeding mine Krill again and noticed its color looking a lot better, like when I first bought it. Bright light alone will sustain them but to really bring out the color feed small chunks of clam, squid or shrimp/krill/mysis.

Make sure you don't overfeed it. IMO they don't feel good when they are overfed because my bubble tip anemone looks like it has stomach ache the next day.

I feed my tank frozen foods twice a day, or broadcast feed. So my BTAs mostly get fed that way, I don't target them. Rarely, when the mood takes me I will add things like brine shrimp or mysis or lobster eggs directly to the anemones tentacles. I prefer to feed them smaller, mushier foods and I NEVER see them regurgitate anything this way.

They will also take algae IME and show a feeding response to glass cleaning on occasion. I don't deliberately feed it to them but just my observations since keeping them for the last 4/5 years.

I feed my BTA raw shrimp that you can buy in the frozen food section of your grocery store. Doesn't take much and they last a very long time and cheap too. I believe that the iodine in shrimp help enhance the colors of the nem.
