feeding anthias?

Are you really feeding these fish three times a day? I really want some but if they have to eat that much no way.

You will likely get varying answers on this but mine have been fine with once a day. I do feed quite a bit at feeding time and vary foods a lot too. Time in DT for them varies from 8 months to 2 years.

I think it's completely dependent upon species. Some of the larger species like lyretails, square spots and Bartletts will likely be ok with once daily feeding assuming they are plump and healthy to begin with. Other smaller species will definitely not tolerate once a day feedings.

I have P. dispar, P. ignitus and P. inermis. I feed 4-5 times a day, and all the fish in the tank love it.

I had a trio of squareback anthias in a 210g and they usually got 1-2 times a day. Most of the weekdays they got fed once a day but on weekends I fed them twice per day.

I do 2-3 feedings a day. I don't think once is good enough.

I had my trio for almost 4 yrs before breaking the tank down. All the web sites say that anthias need to be fed multiple times per day but most of the guys I know are doing fine with 1-2 per day. Its hard to feed in the morning when you go to work at 5:30 am and the lights dont come on until 9:00 am.

I have carberryi anthias, they are a more sensitive species so I feed 4x a day a variety of flakes, NLS pellets, frozen cyclopeeze, baby brine shrimp, and PE mysis shrimp. I know people say you can "get away" with feeding once a day but any research on the fish will say they like to feed multiple times a day. I think it's best to mimic their natural feeding habits.

Intersting dz. Do you think I am stressing my fish more by waking them up and getting them to eat? I'm talking for about tangs, angels, triggers, and butterfly fish.

As for the op if they are eating flakes/pellets auto feeders make it super easy assuming the portions are correct.

i feed my tuka 6 tims a day with gut loaded live baby brine (3 of these thru a dosing pump) and then once with frozen daphnia and once with NLS small/baby fish pellets.

they will move out of QT next week with similar (if not more) feeding schedule when in the DT.

I have 8 Dispars and feed them 3 times pellets with an automatic feeder barely cracked open (so that the pellets barely come through) and then something frozen (Rods, mysis, cyclopeze, roe) or black worms most evenings.
