Feeding broodstock?

I am working on a smallish clown breeding setup consisting of a few tanks plumbed to one system. I've obtained a few pair so far and am curious about conditioned to spawn. I leave for work around 6am and get home around 4pm. I would like for the lights to be on fairly late in the afternoon but would also like to get a morning feeding in. Any suggestions on a lighting and feeding schedule for me?

Fast( no food is given)

For lighting I would have them come on at 7 and go off at 9.Thats how I do it

I saw your feeding schedule in another thread. I wish I could feed midday but I cannot and if I feed before I go to work I will have to have the lights come on around 5:30 or so. Another problem comes up when I will be going on shift in a few months. My schedule will be irregular at best. Is it as important to have the same schedule for feedings or just the fact that they get a diverse diet multiple times a day regardless of time?

They just need alot of food. When feeding at once alot of food get behind rocks and get sucked up to power heads.Thats why I feed 3 times a day.I think they just need alot of food to spawn. Some people feed normal but I want my fish to breed faster so I feed alot.

for flake and pellet you can use an auto feeder with a built in, or hooked up to a timer.

for the mysids, you culd maybe try a drip loop, though i think you would be more successful with enriched brine shrimp on a slow drip loop. because unless the water with mysides can be kept in suspension in a cold environment, i wouldn't trut feeding them warm.

feeding strictly flake isn't terrible, if anything you could feed frozen at night as a treat!

If your talking to me I feed frozen mysis every day.Plus they eat little critters in the tank that are live.

another option to explore is not turning on the lights until about 10am so that they are on longer at night for you. An auto feeder as mentioned above could be used along with anything else you could think of. just thoughts

Right now the lights come on at 10am now and go off at 8pm. Currently I am feeding mysis, flakes and pellets (of different variety) when I get home at 4pm and feeding again, minus the mysis before lights out. I suppose I will continue this and see how it goes.

I add cyclopeez to my clowns food once a day and they love the stuff and it is great for them b/c if full of fatty amino acids etc. Just make sure you mix it up and saturate it good then add w/ a baster or it will float on top of the water. I have noticed brighter colors on my clowns since. Just a thought

You should consider replacing the mysis shrimp with Rod's food. My feeding schedule is very simple. I work 8-5 so normally feed pellets in the am and frozen Rod's at around 5. Then i feed pellets alittle later. My current batch of larva are vigorous!
