Feeding corals

I don't use it, but I believe reef roids is a mix of zooplankton, not phytoplankton. If you are looking for a live alternative, copepods and rotifers are likely alternatives.

feeding both is a good idea. i do so.
i recommend live phyto for all reef tanks. phytoplankton is veg, reefroids are zooplankton,(ish)
i recommend passive feeding of phyto, as in , daily dose . the sponges, bivalves and fan worms you want to fill the spaces with, love phyto and will thrive because of it. it also encourage pods and gut loads them. fills them with nutrition.
the reef roids use for target feeding. animals that you actually see feed on it. it is a dead food item so don't overfeed. but feed often.
if you're feeding lps reef roids, turn your pumps down or off . let it 'lay' on the larger polyps, they'll eat it make sure you give them a piece of meat once in a while.

IME, I cannot tell a difference between the coral appearance and growth using different foods. I have used everything under the sun to feed the colors. IMO, there is one thing that I believe that may be have a very slight edge over everything else, is PE Mysis shrimp.
