Feeding Crabs to Trigger

Do any of you feed your fish crabs of any sort? I have read a few threads of people feeding crabs to their fish but not a bunch of info. Are you feeding those fiddler crabs or what type?

While I normally never give my fish any sort of live food (besides clams I crack open) I have been thinking it might be good for his teeth. I am also curious to the mess it will make (shells parts all over tank)

Thanks in advance

If there was meat left inside the shells I think it would foul the water a little but just empty shells I think would be ok. I've done it before but never as a staple diet. And I just caught my own crabs at the beach.

I have lots of hermits in my tanks...small blue legged all the way up to red legged the size of my fish...they learn to only come out at night...the large ones are very aggressive and can defend themselves, for the most part...but they do get picked off every now and then...does not mess up the tank...the small ones are inhaled by my trigs...the larger ones, if caught become a group meal...you will need to remove the shells...no big deal...allows the fish to explore natural behaivor and predation...also keeps some of the trigs occupied...
