Feeding for neon blue cleaner wrasse

Feeding cleaner wrasse is no different than any other meaty foods eater. I'd read that in order to stay fed, they need a tank full of reef fish to clean. That info is posted in many online resources. I picked one up on Friday, and it's cleans the fish all day and also eats the smallest pieces of shrimp and squid that I've fed the tank over the past two days. They are very impressive looking, and the other fish line up to be cleaned.

We have a 12" Titan Trigger in there. The first evening the trigger chased the Cleaner Wrasse, like he was intent on eating him. The next morning the Titan began lining up for cleanings. All's well.

Don't mean to rain on your parade, but it's probably better to wait awhile before declaring victory! Glad to hear it's eating though.

I have a cleaner wrasse that eats Sustainable Aquatics pellets (designed for clownfish breeding I think) and Reef Caviar (which he loves!), along with meaty bits of whatever else he can swallow.

Try giving him stuff that's soft and small, like egg products.

The readings I've seen say that cleaner wrasse only eat re: parasites etc. off the reef fish. The one I have is eating meaty foods added to the tank, as well as what it cleans off the fish. That's all I was saying - that at least this one does eat, which is contrary to the readings.

If you search this forum about this fish, you will see that the consensus is that ones originating from "Africa" seem to eat everything, and be no more difficult to keep than any common wrasse. I've had a couple of them for years, both grew from small to quite large.
