feeding frenzy

No haters? Not sure what your trying to avoid but I would assume its the fact that you have a severely overstocked tank...but then again, that must just make me a hater...

Why bother posting something like that when you know people are going to flame you about having like 12 tangs (maybe more) in a 200G tank?

Whatever dude...

He probably only has them in there temporarily, right pupol?
Anyway, it is a sight to behold, great colors, love them Achilles Tangs.
Seriously though, how are they all getting along? Seems like the aggression would be through the roof, or is the fact that their are so many in there that it actually cuts down on aggression?
Keeping the tank clean with decently low Nitrates and Phosphats has got to be a chore.
Please tell us more about the tank, how long has it been set up, filtration, what is the age of the oldest fish? Etc.
How long have you had the Achilles tangs for?

Thanks for sharing.

Wow looks great pulpol how does the huge hermit crab do with the fish I have one in a 30 and would love to put it in my 265 but I'm afraid it would get a hold of my fish.

dont worry about the haters I know a guy who had 32 tangs in a 150 gallon all did great until he switched to a 500gallon

Well, maybe Flav brings up a good point? If he's able to have Achilles (I counted at least 3) and they looked good and healthy, is the tank really overstocked then? I mean, if everyone really rates this fish as that tough to keep, something must be right, esp. since there's at least 3! It also seemed like the tank has been running for a bit too, doesn't seem like it was setup 2 days ago and the fish dumped in yesterday.

1x powder blue tang (7mo)
3x achilles tang (4mo)
1x clown tang (3mo)
4x purple tang (2mo)
1x dussemeri tang (since 2004)
1x naso tang (7mo)
3x yellow tang (2mo)
3x blue tang (5mo and 1wk)1 came from local reefer, had them for 3 yrs in 100g
1x sohal tang (2mo)

all tangs are very healthy as i speak.this tank is 8months old (set up came from a 150g and 60g reef tank that i used to have). tank is 7'x2'x2' acrylic. i have about 200lbs of liverock and live sand that came from my old set up. i feed them spectrum pellets, nori, mysis and brine soaked in selcon and vitachem everyday. i do water changes "at least once" every week (from 35-50g). i run a 25w uv and asm g-3 skimmer (collection cup gets filled and cleaned almost everyday). i have around 8000gph of water movement coming from my powerheads and 2 return pumps. there's very little aggression and the powder blue rules the tank. i think having multiple tangs and lots of feeding keeps the aggression level really low. keeping up with the water changes keeps my water clean. i do plan to upgrade to a much bigger tank (1st quarter next yr) so no worries that these tangs will be stuck in this tank for life.

so far he's been good. eats all the left overs. also serves as a sand sifter and keeps my sand bed clean.

Nice! With that many fish, I thought you might have a connection. You probably have well over $1000 in fish there.

What level are you able to maintain your Nitrates at?

Enjoy.

no i don't have any connections, i just look around for the best deals. i don't test for anything except salinity but i'll probably do it some time this week so i'll know if i have to increase my water changes.
