Feeding frozen foods

I feed Prime Reef or Brine Shrimp Plus. My LFS recommends thawing in in warm water then rinsing in through a brine shrimp net to get ride of any "fillers". Won't that wash away most of the algae and vitamins they have added?? R

I would take a few tablespoons of tank water in a small container and drop the food into it. Let it dissolve, then filter the 'solid' contents with the net. Theres a lot of waste material in the water the brine is frozen in. Adding it straight to the tank can lead to a rise in nitrates .

Thanks for the input.
The Prime Reef wash water is very cloudy and I think it should be washed. The Brine Shrimp Plus water is almost clear--It probably contains most of the algae so I am reluctant to discard it. R

All that 'dirty' water goes to your filter feeders, corals, feather dusters, etc. I would never rinse any of them myself. I usually just thaw them in a glass with no water. I alternate between vitamins, Selcon, Tahitan blend. Nitrates, maybe but I don't consider them wasted.
