Feeding of Jawfish...

Hi, Just got a Jawfish from my LFS... It is very healthy but it is not eating, so far i can only see it in its burrow not doing anything...

I believes it is a dusky jawfish... Cant find the actual ID.. That is the nearest i can find...

Anyone got experience with feeding of jawfish...

Tried mysis, home-made frozen food, pellets(no harm trying) and live brine shrimp... But still not eating... Today is its 3rd day with me..

Mine devoured mysis from day 1. Are there other fish that might be spooking it? Regardless, 3 days without eating is not much a concern. Fish can take a while to settle in. I wouldn't worry about it until a week or more goes by without eating.

Pics? :)

If you have other fish that intimidate the Jawfish, it will hide in its hole and slowly wither away. Though I agree with seapug, give it a few days before you worry.

I have other fishes like angels, bottom dwellers would include scooter blenny and mandarin... Both they are not disturbing the jawfish, or is the jawfish spooked by the angels?

I have a bluespot jawfish and they can be finnicky eaters. I feed mine mysis shrimp ( he turns his nose up at brine shrimp). I use a turkey baster to feed him, he comes right up to it and eats, you might want to try squirting some near his burrow. I also turn off the powerheads while I do this. Believe it or not, he also likes Omega One Marine Flake food with garlic. Good Luck with him!
