Feeding Softies

I have some Green Star Polyps and Frogspawn in my tank. I also have a pair of clowns and some snails from reefcleaners............. What should I be feeding to ensure the corals have the best chance of survival and growth? I use H2O fishNreef to feed the clowns and have started using a baster to "spray" the corals with this food. Is my methos acceptable or should I be going another route? I target feet the corals about 4 times a week...............

BTW, lights are 4x24w T5HO, bulbs recommended by GrimReefer............

i did the same thing you do with the turkey baster with my whole reef. my xenia absolutely loved it. just make sure not to overfeed or youll run into bigger problems

Your corals can and will thrive just fine with regular fish feedings and an occasional tank or target feeding. Do your research to find out what foods are best for your specimens. Different coral food products have different micron sizes, which play a large role in the ability of the coral to even consume the food your feeding. Be sure to have adequate filtration to accommodate nutrient levels. It doesn't sound like you have a very large variety just yet, so target feeding may be your best choice. When I target feed my favorite acans, I use the top 1/3 of a 2 liter bottle. I place the bottle over the colony, and simply bast the colony with my turkey baster through the top opening of the bottle. This method keeps the fish from stealing the food your feeding, and you can still keep most of your pumps in operation. I only do this one night per week. An over abundance of feeding will trigger high nutrients and algea growth. Good luck.
