feeding tangs macroalgae?

i have a fern type and cheato is that ok to feed to them

They may not go for the chaeto, at least mine didn't. But basically you're ok trying just about any marine macro algae. I also have a fern-like green macro growing on a rock in my tank that the tang hasn't touched. FWIW, I feed frozen Formula 2 and Spirulina to my yellow tang. I've tried nori occasionally, but it can be messy.
