Feeding technique

Hello,

My only livesock besides a few crabs is a hi fin goby. He sits halfway in his burrow and there is a lot of flow around him which makes him hard to feed. I don't want pellets floating everywhere because there is nothing to eat them.

Today I took a piece of rigid tubing (its eheim so its green) and put it near him and dropped the pellets in the top. It works like a charm and the pellets sink, go down the tubing and come out near him.

He is a little skittish about the tubing right now, will he get used too it if I keep feeding this way?

I use a plastic syringe to control how much food goes in my nano tanks. It took the fish about a week to associate the syringe tip with food. Now they pool at the top of the tank when the magic plastic food dispenser breaks the surface.

I usuallly turn off my 2 out of 3 pumps while feeding including the return for the sump. I let my fish feast without getting blown around..

I was using a Kent Sea Squirt to target feed a fish. Freaked out most of the inhabitants initially.

After a few days, all of the fish would converge on it as soon as it entered the tank.

He will wise up to it eventually. I have all my water moving equipment hooked up to a single powerhead so I just switch it off right before feeding, altough I like making the fish chase the food occasionally.
