Yesterday as I was feeding my trigger I got to witness the frenatus female feeding one of their host anemones. I have seen this same event a few times before, but this was the first time in my new tank.
Every now and then I feed my fishes with fresh garden snails that I collect from my backyard. I kill the snail in boiling water very quickly, crush it and remove the fresh meat. My Niger trigger and tang go bananas!!
One snail treat got away from their blood thirsty little teeth and my Tomato clown female went for it. She grabbed the snail and carried it to the anemone, spit it to the nem and made sure that the others could not steal it. As I said, this has happened before, and it is amazing that these fishes are so in symbiosis with their anemone that they even feed it.
It's only the female that does this, never have i seen the male feed the anemone.
I have to get my camera ready the next time, would be great to get it on video
