well i just tried to feed my fish for the first time unsucessfully. im guessing i need to turn the pumps off lol. the flake food blew around the tank wildly for 5 seconds then ended up in the sump. is it usually necessary to do this or do i have too much flow?

i have the reefkeeper. and it has a feed button. when i press it
my skimmers turn of my power heads turn off and my sump pump. it automtically turns off for 30 minutes and turns back on after 30 minutes. imoisten mine with tank water in a coffe cup for like 10 minutes then i pour that into a wired mesh basket thingy. (black handle on it and round shaped at the end)

One of the best answers I can think of on this subject is don't feed flake food. It is mostly air, and most of it ends up in places you don't want it. Feed pellets or make a paste that sinks.

I feed flake a couple of times a week. I put them in a cup of tank water as well and pour it in. Most of it will go down into the water this way.

thanks for the responses i was thinking about trying something different. My tomato clown doesnt really seem to like the goldfish flake food i had lying around but the guy at the store said he would eat it. Is there something it might like better?
