Feeding Torch and Hammer Corals

Hi all,

I have a question about Feeding Torch and Hammer Corals.

I have been trying to place Mysis shrimp into their "arms". I am working under the assumption that the arms will pull the food into the middle of the head where the "mouth" seems to be located.

However, this rarely seems to happen properly. Usually the food rests on the top of the head, with a few arms curled around it. The corals release a stringy white substance, which I assume is some type of digestive enzyme, and it usually loses/releases the food after a few minutes.

I do turn off most of the flow when feeding as well, so it's not getting blow off.

Is this typical, or am I doing something wrong.

Thanks! As you can tell, I am new to these corals.

I don't spot feed mine at all...just let them filter feed. My Torch is growing like a weed, I've had to frag it 3 times already. My Hammer seems to be doing fine as well.

They catch passing small particles of food and ingest it. I never feed mine and my 3 head Torch is now 13 heads and my 2 head hammer is now 5.

I tried feeding mine before too but they never seemed to actively close up and eat them the way other corals do. So basically I don't feed mine and they seem to do pretty well. A little too well sometimes.
