How big is your clam? Do you have any other animals that poop?
Larger clams, say 4" and over will do fine without supplemental feeding. Under 4", you can feed pyhto just by adding to the tank once or twice a week, or if your bio load is heavy enough, then there will be plenty of food for him already in water column.

I would say 5 1/2 to 6inches my calcium lvls are 400 and my lights are here in this thread http://reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=1089075

clams do not require supplemental feed as long as they have strong light and fish population that is fed regularly, it won't hurt but is not necessary.
if you are running a nutrient free system ( zeovit etc .. ) then adding some phyto may become necessary but as long as there are some nutrients present your clam will do just fine under strong light.
now of course after saying that ..... i keep my clams under 400w halides and still dose phyto 3 times a week but it's not because i have to
