Hey there ladies and gents, I'm a newbie here to the forum and the owner of a 24g AquaPod with the HQI lighting set up. I love the tank but I've got a few concerns that I wanted to bring up in hopes of getting some advice.
As a lot of you know, the AquaPod is a relatively simple setup and design however even admist this I've had some questions. My AquaPod only came with one set of instructions solely for mounting the HQI system, thats it. Nothing on maintence, warranty, pump specs, nada. I went ahead and connected everything to the best of my knowledge but I'm always one to doubt myself and something doesn't seem right. Does the AquaPod mechanical filtration component only have one tube that runs to the outlet nozzle and thats it? Does the pump simply pull water from the small opening beneath the plastic divider with no type of covering over the inlet? Also, are the two sponges and bioballs supposed to remain on one side while the filter remains on the other? The reason I'm asking is because the filtration system seems to be very weak. It doesn't appear to be filtering out the water in the tank to well and it takes a very long time for any suspended particle matter to clear. Furthermore, the water on top of both sides of the filtration chamber has remained very stagnant and is developing a thick layer of film. The tank is going is approaching its 3rd week of cycling and only contains LR in it now, but nevertheless I want to make sure I get this right.
If anyone happens to have any extra advice as far as the AquaPod is concerned or knows of some useful mods, let me know! I've heard the bioballs and sponges contained in the system are completely useless, so any suggestions on some alternate means would be nice!
