Female Blue Star Leopard Wrasse

Hey reefers I really want a Female Blue Star Leopard Wrasse (one of my dream fish:lol2:) and would like to know if i will be able to get one and care for one and meet the requirements for one. I've done many research about the fish and find that it is very hard to feed but some are easy. I have a 75 gallon tank with about a 2 - 3 inch sand bed with plenty of live rocks. I also started a refugium today to produce copepods for future fish that will graze on them. Ive had my tank for a month now with 2 snowflake clowns, 1 tang, and 3 chromis. I plan on buying a blue star and one other peaceful wrasse this Friday and will arrive on Saterday from liveaquaria. Do you guys think it is risky to get one too soon? Or should i settle for a regular Leopard Wrasse.

I would say wait a while on the leopard. The other peaceful wrasse should be fine, but since the tank and refugium are both very young, they really won't have much of a pod population for the leopard to feed on while you try and acclimate it to frozen foods. Also leopards need good consistent water, which a young tank also takes a while to get dialed in as far as chemistry, nitrites/trates, phosphates, etc.

Thats really your call. you know you're tank better than anyone, but I currently have an 9 month old 40 breeder, and only just started considering leopard wrasses (didn't even end up getting one to finish off my stock). You may find better advice in the reef sub forum, and search the site for a thread called "leopard wrasse primer"
