Female hosting male not?

So I picked up a mated pair of gold stripped maroons about a month ago. They are both a little over a year old. The female who is obviously larger had no problem taking to my sebae anem after a week or so. I realize that maroons prefer bta's, but I've had had the anemone for so long I don't want to get rid of i yet. My male fish who is no longer than an inch has yet to take the the anemone. None of my other fish bully him, but he is considerably smaller than my two tangs and about the size of my smallest of five chromis. Is the male not taking bc of his size and the other fish around? He stays on the side of the tank where the anemone is just never goes into it. Anything I can do to help?

There's no problem with just the female hosting... She may not be letting the male in yet, he might not be ready yet, or maybe she doesn't think the nem is big enough for both of them! My female GSM just let the male in her nem this week - before that she kept him out!

Cool. The nem is definitely large enough for both of them, but the male still has his white stripes so I would guess she doesn't think he is ready.

ive had the same experience when i used to keep maroons the female finally relented when she was more comfortabel with the male and let him in the anemone, although he wasnt as territorial about it as she was
