females are mean!

ive had my tank setup for about 6 months now... ive had my only fish, 2 false percs in there for about 2-3 months. the larger clown (about 2") is always attacking the smaller clown (1.5"). The smaller clown will submit and do the turn on the side shakey dance. the larger clown with back off for a second and as soon as the smaller clown stops shaking will attack again. sometimes the smaller clown will try to fight back since submitting doesnt stop the attack and they will stare at each other and almost kiss, but then the smaller clown will submit again.

im wondering if i may have two females or if it may just take a long time and a lot of fighting for them to establish their sex.

how old are they? juvi clowns will often display the dominant/submissive behavior most of the time and swap some of the time... its just normal pairing behavior... as one becomes larger and thus more dominant it will work out... my baby onyx does the same thing to my 3x larger ocellaris... hell do the shake then sometimes chase the ocellaris back but the ocellaris looks at him and then chases him again... sometimes (very rarely) i will see the ocellaris do the shake too... i attribute it to them both being very young (ocellaris is a little over a year old and the onyx is 8 months)

ok... that is probably it. i assumed do to their size they were still juvis when i bought them. they both came in with the same shipment to my LFS. since i have had them they have both grown quite a bit. im not sure of their age since the LFS didnt know but judging by their size they are probably just starting to determine their sex.
