I would really love to add a midas blenny to my tank in the future here.

my current fish inhabitants are:
orchid dottyback
chalk basslet
scooter blenny
engineer goby

would adding a midas blenny be okay?

also with this stock list, and my 110g tank i am in the process of setting up, what would be my best bet as for a one and only tang? new tank is 48x24x24. i know most tangs get too big for my 48" tank, so i figured i'd ask.

thanks for your opinions guys!

You PROBABLY will be ok, as I've seen many of these fish together in setups before. That being said, every fish has its own personality so you can only give generalizations. Sometimes two different blennies will not like each other. Also, sometimes the basslet might be a problem. Just watch it and the other inhabitants once you put it in, but IME you're probably pretty safe.

As far as the tang, you're only real best bet is one of the Ctenochaetus or more commonly called bristletooth varieties. There's about five of them I think that don't get awfully too big for a 4 foot tank. A Kole or Tomini would be nice.

the basslt and the orchid dottyback are fun to watch, not much aggression in my tank at all.

Tomini tang is awesome, i'll look into that. thanks!

if anyone else has any input please feel free.

Yeah, basslets and dottybacks in general both have great personalities. I love my blackcap I have in my personal tank. Tominis are awesome fish too. I don't have one in my tank due to the fact it's already stocked to my liking, but I've had them in other people's tanks I've worked on and they're beautiful and fun fish.

Should be okay :)

Should be okay :)

Blennies seem to be pretty chill with each other and considering the size of your tank, he should be able to get away just fine if one picks a fight. I would definitely keep and eye out for a few days and check on them but it'd probably be okay

i've read that some midas blennies may nip fins. i've never owned one though. as for the tang, a kole or a tomini will be fine as above poster mentioned.

Okay, just to update.

My 110 gallon is almost ready to rock, I'm plumbing now so in 3 months or so it'll be up and running.

Current fish:
1. Orchid dottyback
2. Chalk basslet
3. Scooter blenny
4. Engineer goby

Planned fish to add for the 110g:
1. Midas Blenny
2. Tomini Tang/Kole tang ( just one of the two, so far I'm thinking Tomini )
3. Some kind of crab/reef safe wrasse? since they are beautiful fish. would this be okay with the rest of the inhabitants?

4. If possible I'll reserve one last spot for a future choice. the above list is about all i'd want to be 100% happy though. Could I do a yellow tang too possibly? that would be absolutely perfect. Should be compatible with the tomini right?

anyone else any input. would i be okay with the tomini and a yellow tang in the 4 ft 110? or should i reserve some other fish for my last spot?

Add the tang last as they could become aggressive to new tank mates.

Melenarus wrasse might make a good addition in the meantime.
