That is an amazing fish. What species of pipefish is it? Is it captive breed? Does it eat prepared food or just live food? I would like to add a pipe fish to my new SH tank and so I am just starting to investigate them.

Thanks for info on your pipefish.

Ilia,

Very healthy looking pipes you have there. Are they taking frozen foods for you yet?

Where did you get them?

Rebecca,

They are multi-banded pipefish, most likely wild caught. There really aren't any CB pipes available on the market as of yet.

pan,
It's actually just one pipe in their so far. It's taking frozen mysis and cyclop. I picked up the pipe from Trop in ocean, I'm sure you know where that is.

Rebecca,
I also plan on adding horses to this tank. However, I have read that it's not the best idea. Kind of a 50/50 shot.
BTW, I saw pictures of your tanks and they both look great.

I plan on taking a few more shots when the lights come on. The tank was a little cloudy in the last two shots because of a wc.

Thanks, Ilia.

I am pretty excited about the tanks as well.

I read last night that I need to let my tank mature further before adding pipefish. I also read that some species of pipefish can be put in the reef tank. I am setting up my 55 gal refugium now so in 6 months I should have a nice pod population to feed these fish. I would rather have pipefish than a mandarin.

Yes I am very familiar with Trop. If that is the pipe they had about a month ago, I was thinking of him myself but didn't have the room for him at the time.

If you ever need any help with the pipes or the future horses just let me know. You can also find me at NJRC site with the same username.

BTW, you missed a great meting this past weekend and it was even in Jackson and John and Phyl's. Hope to see you at a club meeting in the near future. If you need a lift and I'm going I'd be glad to help.

I went to a few meetings and had a great time. I just missed the past few meetings because I've been busy with college.

edit: Trop had the pipe since the middle of May.

whats the green grassy/algae stuff in the 2nd pic? I like it and think I could use some in my soon-to-be-done seahorse tank.

What is the large coral at the back of the tank? Is it an open brain? Thats huge if it is. Nice tank, and gorgeous Pipe!

How big is your tank. Is it your 90 or is it a differnt setup?
Sorry if you've already answered this... I just didn't see it.
(Beautiful fish!!!!)
