here are some pics of my tank. its a 110 high with an asm g3 and a dart on a closed loop. the beauty of this is i bought or traded for almost every coral and piece of rock from one of you guys here in cora. heck even most of the fish to.

Very nice J, looks even better than the last time I was up!
Are you still digging the CL manifold?

thanks guys. porky i love my manifold i still think it is the best thing i have done for my tank it gives me so much control over the water flow. i need to get new bulbs soon and i am still deciding on 10k xm or 14k hamiltons.

What ballast do you have Jason? I have a duel standard magnetic and I used to run XM 10k's but switched to Hamilton 14k's about a year ago. The XM's were very yellow compared to the nice white/blue of the Hamiltons. JMO!

i have the same ballast a dual pfo. that is what i was worried about the xm being to yellow. so iguess i will go 14k. i am just worried about the par accorrding to sanjay's website the 14k is pretty low with the magnetic ballast. do you have good growth with your bulbs? if you get good growth out of your sps then i shouldnt worry about waht i have.

And you should be... according to Sanjay's numbers they are in a work... WEAK!
Have you seen the 10K XM's on an electronic ballast?

I had the same concern on the Hamilton 14ks being low in par. I had been running XM 10ks and 20ks for a couple years (standard PFO ballast) prior to changing in mid-December. While they may be lower in par, I've noticed no discernable drop-off in growth, in fact I wish some things would grow a little slower. My reef is primarily lps and montiporas so the same may not hold true for an acro tank....but I'm pleased with them so far. The only thing I would change is to make them slightly less blue. Something in the 12k range would be ideal for my taste.

I agree with Norm. I have not noticed any less growth between the Hamilitons and the XMs. In fact my colors have been much brighter with the 14ks but it could be a lot of other factors contributing to the color change.

Norm and hollback, I am kinda glad to hear you say that as I am going to be starting my new tank with Ham 14k SE... I have had the Ham 14k DE on my 92gal and I like them alot, I am hoping that the SE gives me the same look as my DE (or close)...

jakano, the tank is looking good...

i have seen norms tank and the color of the bulbs is fantastic. i was just worried about growth but if you guys dont see any problems with this then maybe i will end up with 14k.
norm that hammer is getting huge i cant beleive how many heads it has on it now. also the frogspawn i got from dave isreal to the left of the hammer is a fast grower to. i got it from him with 2-3 heads on it. it has at least 12 heads on it now and i have had it for less than a year i think.

You might get some other opinions as well. As I mentioned, I've only had them 2 months so I'm not certain what to expect over the life of the bulb. hollback, how long have you been running them?
